Ballancer Pressotherapy in Nerja
Ballancer® pressotherapy in Nerja: overlapping-cell trousers and jacket for fluid retention, tired legs, cellulite and pregnancy.
What is Ballancer pressotherapy?
Pressotherapy is a mechanical form of lymphatic drainage: garments with air chambers inflate and deflate in sequence, from the feet upwards, gently pushing accumulated fluid towards the lymphatic system so the body can eliminate it. It works like a drainage massage, but with steady, rhythmic pressure measured for each area.
At Sole Centro de Imagen we work with Ballancer®, one of the leading brands in aesthetic pressotherapy, distributed in Spain by Cincos. What sets it apart is its overlapping cells: each chamber sits over the next, so there are no gaps without pressure between them and the drainage is continuous and even, with no stop-start effect.
We have both garments in the system: the trousers, which cover the legs, buttocks and abdomen along the whole lymphatic pathway, and the jacket, for the arms and upper body. This means we can treat just the legs, just the arms or the whole body, depending on what you need.

Benefits
Ballancer pressotherapy is relaxing, non-invasive and needs no recovery time. Most people find their legs feel lighter from the very first session.
Reduces fluid retention and swelling
Relieves heaviness in tired legs, feet and ankles
Stimulates venous return
Improves the appearance of cellulite as part of a body plan
Helps legs recover after sport
Complements recovery after cosmetic surgery, with the surgeon's approval
Gentle programme for pregnant women from the second trimester, with medical authorisation
Deeply relaxing: many people fall asleep during the session
Ballancer programmes and garments
The device regulates pressure between 20 and 80 mmHg and adapts it to the shape of the body. We combine its four treatment cycles according to your goal and your tolerance:
Pre-treatment (20-40 mmHg): gentle pressure that opens the way for drainage and prepares the tissues; this is the one we use for sensitive people
Intense (20-60 mmHg): deeper drainage for fluid retention and heaviness
Wave (20-80 mmHg): waves of pressure that stimulate circulation; very useful for cellulite and sports recovery
Ballancer® (20-80 mmHg): the brand's signature cycle, which travels up the leg and abdomen following the direction of lymphatic drainage
Trousers: 24 overlapping cells (12 per leg) covering the feet, legs, buttocks and abdomen
Jacket: 24 overlapping cells (12 per side, 7 in each arm) for the arms and upper body
Uses of Ballancer pressotherapy
We use Ballancer as a main treatment or as a complement within a body plan. At your assessment we choose the right garments, cycle and pressure for you.
01Fluid retention and swelling
For that bloated feeling, puffy ankles at the end of the day or clothes that feel tighter by the evening. Sequential pressure mobilises retained fluid so the body can eliminate it naturally. For mild retention we usually recommend 2 sessions a week for 6-7 weeks; if it is more pronounced, 3 a week to begin with.
02Cellulite
Cellulite gets worse when circulation and drainage are sluggish. Ballancer helps reduce inflammation and oxygenate the area, gradually improving the appearance of the skin. It works best combined with treatments that work on the tissue, such as LPG or radiofrequency, with 2-3 sessions a week for at least 8 weeks.
03Sports recovery
After training or competing, pressotherapy helps relieve the legs, reduces the feeling of fatigue and shortens recovery. It is used by runners, cyclists, padel and golf players, both men and women.
04After cosmetic surgery
After liposuction or a tummy tuck it helps reduce inflammation and oedema and makes recovery more comfortable. We only apply it when the surgeon authorises it and at the time they indicate, with gentle pressure.
05Pregnancy
From the second trimester, and always with authorisation from your gynaecologist or midwife, we use Ballancer's pregnancy programme, which does not inflate the abdominal area, to relieve heaviness, cramps and swollen feet and ankles. We explain everything in the pregnancy section.
06Menopause
Hormonal changes often bring more fluid retention and a greater feeling of heaviness. Ballancer helps you feel lighter again and keep your legs cared for, in a gentle, relaxing way.
What happens in a session?
A session lasts between 30 and 50 minutes, depending on the programme and the areas treated. You lie down comfortably in light clothing and the device does all the work.

Assessment
We ask about your circulation, blood pressure, medication, whether you are pregnant and what you want to achieve, and rule out contraindications. With that we choose the garments, cycle and pressure.

Fitting the garments
We put on the trousers, the jacket or both. The garments close with a zip and the pressure adapts to the shape of your body.

Treatment
The chambers inflate one after another from the feet upwards and then relax. It feels like a firm hug moving up your legs; it is pleasant and many people fall asleep.

Afterwards
No recovery is needed. It is normal to need the toilet more often in the following hours, as the body eliminates the fluid that has been mobilised. Drink water and, if you can, go for a short walk.
Sessions and maintenance
The number of sessions depends on your goal; we set it at your assessment. As a guide, based on Ballancer's protocols:
Mild fluid retention: 2 sessions a week for 6-7 weeks (12-14 sessions)
Moderate or severe retention: 3 sessions a week for the first 3-4 weeks, then 2
Cellulite and body contouring: 2-3 sessions a week for at least 8 weeks, combined with other treatments
Tired legs and sport: whenever you need it, for example after training or a competition
Pregnancy: 1-2 sessions a week
Maintenance: 1 session every week or every 15 days, depending on how you respond
10-session package available
Pressotherapy during pregnancy
During pregnancy blood volume increases and the uterus presses on the veins in the pelvis, which is why heavy legs, cramps and swollen feet and ankles are so common. Pressotherapy can ease these discomforts, always under these conditions:
From the second trimester (week 13): it is not applied in the first trimester
With authorisation from your gynaecologist or midwife
With Ballancer's pregnancy programme, which does not inflate the abdominal area; if it is still uncomfortable, we disconnect the air tubes for that area
With gentle pressure and shorter sessions, in a comfortable position
Usually 1 or 2 sessions a week
It is not applied if there is high blood pressure, pre-eclampsia, thrombosis or any pregnancy complication
Who is it for and when is it not recommended?
Ballancer pressotherapy is for women and men with fluid retention, tired legs or cellulite, in sports or post-surgical recovery, during pregnancy with medical authorisation and in menopause. It is an aesthetic device: lymphoedema and lipoedema need a prior medical diagnosis. It is not applied in these cases:
Deep vein thrombosis or thrombophlebitis, current or recent
Heart failure or coronary problems
Severe arterial insufficiency (advanced arteriosclerosis, aneurysms)
Uncontrolled high blood pressure (with high blood pressure, capillary fragility or circulatory problems, gentle pressure only and after a prior assessment)
Infections, fever or open wounds in the area
Cancer under active treatment, unless authorised by the oncologist
First trimester of pregnancy or a pregnancy with complications
Lighter legs from the first session
Book your assessment: we will explain which garments and programme you need and how many sessions we recommend, with no obligation.
Frequently asked questions
Your questions about this treatment, your session and body care.
Does pressotherapy hurt?
+
No. It feels like a firm hug that rises from the feet and then relaxes. The pressure is adjusted to you, and for sensitive people we start with the gentlest cycle.
How long does a session last?
+
Between 30 and 50 minutes, depending on the programme and the areas treated.
How many sessions will I need?
+
It depends on your goal. For mild retention we usually recommend 12-14 sessions (2 a week for 6-7 weeks); for cellulite, 2-3 a week for at least 8 weeks. After that, maintenance every week or every 15 days.
Do you have both trousers and a jacket?
+
Yes. The trousers treat the feet, legs, buttocks and abdomen, and the jacket the arms and upper body. We can use one on its own or both at the same time.
What makes Ballancer different from other pressotherapy systems?
+
Its cells overlap: each chamber sits over the next, so there are no areas without pressure between them and the drainage is continuous. It also adjusts pressure between 20 and 80 mmHg and has four treatment cycles.
Can I have pressotherapy while pregnant?
+
Yes, from the second trimester and with authorisation from your gynaecologist or midwife. We use Ballancer's pregnancy programme, which does not inflate the abdominal area (if it is uncomfortable, we disconnect the air tubes for that area), with gentle pressure and 1 or 2 sessions a week. It is not applied in the first trimester or if there is high blood pressure, pre-eclampsia or thrombosis.
Does pressotherapy help you lose weight?
+
It does not remove fat. It mobilises retained fluid, so you may notice less volume and looser clothes, but it is no substitute for diet and exercise. For localised fat we combine it with other treatments.
Does it work for cellulite?
+
It helps improve its appearance because it reduces fluid retention and stimulates circulation, but it works best within a plan that includes treatments working on the tissue, such as LPG or radiofrequency.
Is it useful for athletes?
+
Yes. After training it relieves the legs and reduces the feeling of fatigue. It is popular with runners, cyclists and padel or golf players.
Can I have it after liposuction?
+
Yes, when your surgeon authorises it and at the time they indicate. It helps reduce inflammation and oedema and makes recovery more comfortable.
Does it help with lymphoedema or lipoedema?
+
Ballancer is an aesthetic device. Lymphoedema needs medical diagnosis and treatment. In lipoedema, pressotherapy can be part of the plan, but always after a prior diagnosis: see our lipoedema page.
What will I notice afterwards?
+
Lighter, more rested legs. It is normal to urinate more in the following hours. Drink water and, if you can, go for a short walk.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
+
Yes. It is a good complement to LPG, radiofrequency, shockwave therapy and firming and anti-cellulite treatments, because it helps eliminate the fluid those treatments mobilise.
Are there any contraindications?
+
Yes: thrombosis or thrombophlebitis, severe heart or arterial problems, uncontrolled high blood pressure, infections, fever, open wounds, cancer under active treatment and the first trimester of pregnancy. That is why we always carry out an assessment first.
Is it for men too?
+
Yes. The programmes are suitable for men and women, and many men use it for sports recovery and tired legs.
Looking for a medical approach?
For a double chin, localised fat or laxity, body technology can be combined with medical treatments after an assessment.
