What is IPL for rosacea?
IPL (intense pulsed light) emits flashes of light that are absorbed by the haemoglobin in small dilated vessels. The heat makes the vessels gradually close and the body reabsorbs them, so facial redness and thread veins fade.

How is it done?
Flashes of pulsed light on the red areas, with settings adjusted to your skin.
Assessment
We check your skin, type of redness and skin type to adjust the treatment.
Procedure
Wearing protective glasses, we apply a cold gel and the flashes of light to the red areas. The session is quick.
Recovery
Skin may look slightly red for a few hours. High-protection sunscreen is essential.
Results
Redness and small veins fade progressively over the sessions.

How many sessions are needed?

Usually 3 to 5 sessions about 4 weeks apart, depending on how intense the redness is.
Does it hurt?

You feel a small snap of heat with each flash, well tolerated thanks to the cold gel.
Can I sunbathe afterwards?

Avoid direct sun and use high-protection sunscreen before and after the sessions. Tanned skin is not treated.
Does rosacea go away?

Rosacea is chronic. IPL tones down redness and visible small veins, and maintenance may be needed.
Who should not have it?

It is not applied during pregnancy, on tanned skin or with some light-sensitising medicines. We check this at your assessment.
