What is the Q-Switched laser?

The Q-Switched laser is an advanced medical aesthetic technology designed to remove dark spots and pigmentation selectively and safely. It emits high-energy pulses lasting nanoseconds that break down excess melanin without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue.

These particles are gradually eliminated by the body, lightening the skin from within. It is a precise, non-invasive and effective treatment for sun spots, melasma, lentigines and other forms of hyperpigmentation, visibly improving the evenness and radiance of the complexion.

The Q-Switched laser visibly reduces dark spots, evens out skin tone and improves overall skin quality. It is a quick, safe procedure suitable for different skin types. It allows targeted areas to be treated with great precision, without surgery or lengthy recovery times.

How is the treatment carried out?

Following a medical assessment, the laser is applied to the dark spot using precise pulses that selectively target the pigment without damaging the skin.

  1. Initial assessment — Q-Switched Laser

    Initial assessment

The doctor carries out a personalised assessment to determine the type and depth of the dark spot, assess the skin and establish the number of sessions needed.

  2. Procedure — Q-Switched Laser

    Procedure

The session lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. It is quick, safe and well tolerated, with mild, temporary discomfort.

  3. Recovery — Q-Switched Laser

    Recovery

No time off work is needed. After laser treatment, the dark spot temporarily darkens. With the prescribed cream, it disappears within days. The skin remains pink until it has fully recovered.

  4. Results — Q-Switched Laser

    Results

Dark spots gradually lighten. The skin looks more even, radiant and rejuvenated. More than one session is sometimes needed.

Your questions answered

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about Q-Switched Laser, your session and caring for your skin.

Does the Q-Switched laser remove dark spots permanently?

+

It removes existing pigment. It is important to use sun protection to prevent new dark spots from appearing.

How many sessions do I need?

+

It depends on the type of dark spot. Generally, between 2 and 6 sessions are recommended for optimal results.

Is it painful?

+

It is well tolerated. You may feel slight discomfort, similar to small snaps against the skin.

Can it be done at any time of year?

+

It is recommended to avoid treatment during summer or periods of direct sun exposure. Autumn and winter are the best times.

When will I see results?

+

After the session, the area may turn greyish or develop scabs that disappear within 4–7 days, after which improvement starts to become noticeable. It is important not to pick off the scabs.

Can the Q-Switched laser be used for other treatments?

+

Yes, the Q-Switched laser is a very versatile device. Thanks to its different handpieces, it can also be used to perform the Hollywood Peel, remove microblading or micropigmentation, and treat onychomycosis (fungal nail infections).

Are there any side effects?

+

Redness, slight swelling, sensitivity, small blisters or superficial scabs may occur, usually resolving within 24–48 hours. In rare cases, pigmentation changes, scarring or infections may occur without appropriate aftercare.

Are there any contraindications?

+

It is not recommended during pregnancy, in cases of active infection, on recently tanned skin or for people with certain specific medical conditions.
